Golden Gate Transit Will Begin Serving San Francisco's Newly Opened Salesforce Transit Center on Sunday, September 9, 2018

The new Salesforce Transit Center will open this weekend in San Francisco with a free block party on Saturday, August 11, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Golden Gate Transit (GGT) Routes 30, 70, 101, and 101X will begin servicing the new transit center on Sunday, September 9 from the Bus Plaza level, between Fremont and Beale streets on the street level. Until this time, GGT buses will continue to serve the nearby Main Street & Folsom Street (northbound) and Beale Street & Howard Street (southbound) bus stops. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (Muni) and AC Transit will begin serving the new transit center on Sunday, August 12.

The Salesforce Transit Center will become the “Grand Central Station” of the west, a fully integrated transit hub capable of getting people to any major destination in the region from one central location using only public transportation. The original Transbay Terminal opened in 1939 and was a regional hub for more than 60 years. It closed in 2010 to make way for a new world-class transit center that will serve the region.

While construction of the new Salesforce Transit Center took place, transit agencies served a Temporary Transbay Terminal for eight years, ensuring our customers were able to continue traveling to and from the heart of downtown San Francisco from all over the region.
