Summary of Changes for Tiburon Riders

On Sunday, September 10, 2006, and Monday, September 11, 2006, both Golden Gate Transit (GGT) and Marin County Transit District (MCTD) will be making adjustments to Tiburon services. The following is a summary of these service modifications for your use:

GGT Regional Route 8 serves the commute market on weekdays, except holidays, for customers traveling between Tiburon and San Francisco.  Effective Monday, September 11, the last morning trip departing Tiburon (Tiburon and Main) at 7:50 am will be canceled due to low ridership; this trip averages 13 passengers per trip.  The two other morning trips departing Tiburon (Tiburon and Main) at 6:37 am and 7:23 am will continue to operate. The two afternoon return trips departing San Francisco (Folsom and 7th) at 4:28 pm and 4:49 pm will continue to operate.

MCTD Local Route 15 operates daily, except holidays, serving Tiburon, Strawberry Village, Mill Valley, Marin City on weekdays between 5:43 am and 6:21 pm, and on weekends between 7:45 am and 6:20 pm.  Effective, Sunday, September 10, 2006, the Route 15 will be replaced by two new separate routes: Route 17 and Route 19.

MCTD Local Route 19:The new Route 19 will operate daily serving Tiburon, Strawberry Village, Marin City, between the hours of approximately 7:30 am and 7:30 pm from Tiburon to Marin City.  The travel time for Tiburon customers to Marin City will be improved as the routing will no longer include going through Mill Valley to access Marin City as the Route 15 did.   Now to access Mill Valley, Tiburon customers will transfer at Strawberry Village (transfer stop is the one behind Safeway at Reed & Belvedere) to the new Route 17.

Route 19 will provide improved access to regional transit services for Tiburon customers who will be able to transfer to GGT Regional Routes 70/80 at Marin City to access San Francisco.

MCTD Local Route 17: The new Route 17 will operate daily between San Rafael Transit Center, Strawberry, Mill Valley, Marin City between the hours of approximately 6 am and 8 pm.  To access Mill Valley, Tiburon customers will transfer at Strawberry Village (the transfer stop is the one behind Safeway at Reed & Belvedere) to the new Route 17.   Route 17 provides direct service between Strawberry and the San Rafael Transit Center where customers can connect to other GGT routes.

Another added benefit of the creation of Route 17 and Route 19 for Tiburon customers is that they will be able to transfer at Strawberry Village (transfer stop is the one behind Safeway at Reed & Belvedere) to MCTD Local Route 22 which connects northbound to Corte Madera, Larkspur, College of Marin, Ross, San Anselmo, San Rafael and also offers connections southbound to Sausalito via Marin City.
