Thank You for Your Patience During Our Recent Unpredictable Bus Service

In recent days, Golden Gate Transit has experienced a higher-than-usual number of cancelled bus trips. We rarely miss any bus trips, as we recognize the significant impact even a single missed trip can have on our customers. We apologize for the recent inconsistencies in our service. We strive to be reliable and dependable every day, and we are eager to resume a high quality of service.

Golden Gate Transit has been negotiating a new contract for our bus operators for many months in good faith. Our current need to cancel multiple trips daily stems from ongoing unannounced labor unrest related to those discussions. We are unable to predict how long the labor actions will last.

We are taking the following actions at this time:

  • Cancelling as few trips as possible.
  • Notifying customers with as much advance notice as we can provide.

To stay informed on trip cancellations, please follow us on Twitter (@GoldenGateBus) and use Transit app on your mobile phone (download for free at any app store; for FAQs and more about our partnership with Transit, visit our related news article). We are posting cancellations on both platforms. Please be prepared to take an earlier or later trip if your planned trip is cancelled. We also recommend using Golden Gate Ferry on Mondays and Fridays as there are seats available during peak commute hours (visit our Ferry Schedules & Maps page).

We hope to have resolution on the labor issues as quickly as possible. We thank you for your patience and continued patronage.

For trip-planning assistance, call our customer service center at 511 (415-455-2000) and say "Golden Gate Transit," then "operator" to bypass recorded messages. The center is open weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
