Golden Gate Transit and Golden Gate Ferry are requiring all bus and ferry riders over two (2) years of age to wear a face mask or face covering while boarding, disembarking, and while riding in one of our vehicles or vessels. Riders may be refused service if they do not have a face covering. (Read the CDC's Federal Register Notice on mask & travel guidance at www.cdc.gov/quarantine/masks/mask-travel-guidance.html.)
Effective June 15, 2021, Golden Gate Transit and Ferry are no longer limiting the number of passengers on its buses and ferries, except for a six-foot distancing requirement around the bus operator area.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak began in the Bay Area, the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (District), which operates Golden Gate Transit and Golden Gate Ferry, has followed recommendations from federal, state, and local public health officials when implementing measures to ensure the health and safety of employees and the public. As part of these measures, the District continues to disinfect all buses and ferries on a daily basis, and provide personal protective equipment to all bus operators and ferry staff.
More information on the District's health and safety measures taken in response to COVID-19 can be found at goldengate.org/covid-19.
