Wi-Fi on GGT

Golden Gate Transit offers free WiFi on all its buses. Customers can check email or surf the Internet while they ride the bus to work or school or as they make their way across town. The service uses a dual carrier system (Verizon and AT&T) which ensures more reliable coverage.

To connect, search for the “GGT-WIFI” wireless network (under “Settings” in most devices). Some devices may even be set up to automatically search for available networks. No password is necessary, but customers will need to accept Terms and Conditions of Use.

Helpful Tips:

  • If you're unable to see the “GGT-WIFI” network, make sure your device is WiFi-enabled. Sometimes, powering a device off and on will help too.
  • Please be courteous and limit use of streaming audio and video.
  • Avoid downloading large files.
  • Use earbuds and be considerate of fellow riders.

Connection Problems:

  • GGT's WiFi service is based on cellular technology and signal strength fluctuates throughout our service area (San Francisco to Santa Rosa and western Contra Costa County). Service may drop in the same areas where you lose cell phone service.
  • Bandwidth is limited and shared among all riders.
Customers are encouraged to provide feedback on this new service by calling our Customer Service Center at 511 (say “Golden Gate Transit,” then “operator”)/TDD 711 (open weekdays, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), or by using our online Bus Comment form
