Golden Gate Transit bus fares vary according to trip length and number of fare zones crossed. All riders are required to pay a fare, except children 4 and younger who ride for free when accompanied by an adult (limit 2 children per adult).

Adult Clipper Fares effective July 1, 2024
Fares below are for adults using Clipper (card or mobile app). These fares represent a discount off the adult cash fare when using Clipper for intercounty travel (20% discount) or when traveling within Marin County (10% discount).
Clipper is the all-in-one transit account useable on Golden Gate Transit buses, Golden Gate Ferry, and on most other Bay Area transit agencies. Visit the Clipper website for more information or download the mobile app and use your smart phone to pay your fare. Adult Clipper cards are available from many Bay Area retail locations. Youth, Senior, Disabled, Medicare & Clipper START Fares effective July 1, 2024
Fares below are for youth (ages 5 to 18), seniors (ages 65 and above), disabled and Medicare, and Clipper START riders. These fares are valid when using cash or Clipper (card or mobile app). Please have cash or Clipper (card or phone) ready before boarding the bus and tell the driver where you are going so you are charged the correct fare.
Clipper is the all-in-one transit account useable on Golden Gate buses and ferries and on most other Bay Area transit agencies. Download the Clipper app and pay your fare with your smart phone. Youth, senior, and RTC Clipper cards are issued by the Golden Gate Transit Customer Service Center (San Rafael Transit Center, Platform D, 850 Tamalpais Avenue, San Rafael; hours: weekdays, except major holidays, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Clipper START cards provide a 50% discount on most Golden Gate bus and ferry rides for eligible low-income adults. To apply, visit the Clipper START website, call 1-855-614-9149, or email help@clipperstartcard.com.
