In celebration of America’s birthday and the reopening of California from Coronavirus restrictions, the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District will offer free rides from Saturday, July 3rd through Monday, July 5th on its bus and ferry systems.
Golden Gate encourages passengers to hop on board and see for themselves that public transit is a great way to get around safely. Whether taking in the sites of San Francisco or exploring the North Bay, let Golden Gate take you there for FREE!
On Sunday, July 4th, late-night ferry service from San Francisco to the North Bay will be offered for those who want to see the San Francisco fireworks display.
Also on Sunday, July 4th, Golden Gate Transit will be offering free shuttles between the San Rafael Transit Center and Larkspur Ferry Terminal before and after all ferry trips. Additionally, Golden Gate Transit will run three special event shuttles from the Larkspur Ferry Terminal after the return of the "fireworks" ferry. These shuttles will serve the Canal neighborhood, Novato, and Sonoma County and will depart the ferry terminal after all passengers have disembarked from the ferry.
On Monday, July 5, Golden Gate Ferry Oracle Park service will also be free for the 3:05 p.m. Giants game, but seats are reserved for passengers with game tickets only. [NOTE: As of June 30, seats for this free ferry are "sold out" and no longer available.]
Note: Any passengers that want to ride the ferry continuously across multiple destinations will need to disembark and re-board the vessel at each stop.
For Golden Gate Transit bus timetables, visit our Bus Schedules & Maps page. Note: On Monday, July 5th, buses will be running Sunday/Holiday schedules.
