Golden Gate Transit Announces Bus Service Adjustments

Effective Sunday, March 8 and Monday, March 9, 2009

 

Golden Gate Transit (GGT) schedules are adjusted quarterly to improve system efficiency.

CANCELED ROUTES
Route 9

GGT Route 9 has been providing free shuttle service through Tiburon to/from the Blue and Gold Tiburon Ferry. Effective Monday, March 9, this service will no longer operate due to low ridership. GGT Route 19 will continue to operate providing alternate service along Tiburon Blvd. between Strawberry Village and Tiburon & Main.

Previously, Blue & Gold Tiburon Ferry tickets were accepted for free travel on Route 9. Effective March 9, Blue and Golden Ferry Tickets will NOT BE accepted for FREE travel on Route 19.

Route 60

GGT Route 60 has been providing commute service between the San Rafael Transit Center (SRTC) and San Francisco with service to the Manzanita Park & Ride, Marin City and Sausalito through the operation of three morning trips (4:35 am, 6:30 am, 9:30 am) into San Francisco and two early afternoon trips (1:37 pm and 2:34 pm) out of San Francisco.

Effective Monday, March 9, the Route 60 will no longer operate, but alternate GGT bus service is available through the following existing services:

  • The two early morning Route 60 trips at 4:35 am and 6:30 am will continue to operate, BUT as Route 27 trips
  • Route 4 operates from Mill Valley (Manzanita Park & Ride) to San Francisco
  • Route 27 operates from San Rafael Transit Center to San Francisco; two southbound former Route 60 trips at 4:35 am and 6:30 am will now be provided as Route 27 trips
  • Route 10 operates from Marin cCity through Sausalito to San Francisco
  • Route 71 provides service between Novato and Marin City with connections at SRTC
  • Route 70 provides service between Novato and San Francisco with connections at SRTC and Marin City
  • Route 80 provides service between Santa Rosa and San Francisco with connections at SRTC and Marin City
ROUTES WITH SPECIFIC TRIPS CANCELED
Route 8
Route 8 provides commute service connecting Tiburon and San Francisco. The northbound 5:37 pm San Francisco Financial District trip is being canceled due to low ridership. Alternate service for passengers traveling from San Francisco Financial District to Mill Valley at the Seminary or Tiburon Wye bus pad stops can use the northbound Route 18 trip that departs from the San Francisco Financial District at 5:27 pm.
Route 27
Route 27 provides commute service connecting Sleepy Hollow, San Anselmo, San Rafael Transit Center and San Francisco. The northbound 5:17 pm trip will be canceled due to low ridership. Passengers traveling to the San Rafael Transit Center can use alternate service on Routes 26 and 44. See below for additional modifications to Route 27.
Route 75
Route 75 provides commute service linking Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Cotati, Petaluma, Northgate Industrial Park, Marin Civic Center and the San Rafael Transit Center. The southbound 5:02 am and northbound 5:21 pm trips will be canceled due to low ridership.

 

ADDITIONAL SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENTS/IMPROVEMENTS

 

Routes 10, 23, 24, 29, 35, 70 will be adjusted up to 5 minutes to improve connections and running times.
   
Route 4
Mill Valley-San Francisco Commute Service: Northbound 5:30 pm Financial District trip added; also minor schedule revisions.
   
Route 19
Tiburon-Marin City Local Service: Southbound 5:03 pm, 6:21 pm and 7:24 pm trips adjusted earlier to operate at 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 6:45 pm respectively to meet Blue & Gold Tiburon Ferry arrival times. Blue & Gold Tiburon Ferry tickets will not be accepted for free travel on Route 19 and customers must now pay local bus fare of $2.00 for adults.
   
Route 24
Ross Valley-San Francisco Commute Service: Southbound 7:45 am Manor (Fairfax) trip added and northbound 5:22 pm San Francisco Financial District trip added.
   
Route 27

Sleepy Hollow-San Anselmo-San Rafael Transit Center-San Francisco Commute Service: Southbound 5:30 am trip added. Southbound trips will be adjusted to improve consistency of San Francisco Financial District service at the San Rafael Transit Center. See Route 44 for additional trips from the San Rafael Transit Center to the San Francisco Financial District.

The northbound Route 27 4:04 pm trip departs earlier at 3:44 pm. See Route 44 for alternate service at 4:08 pm.

   
Route 40
San Rafael-El Cerrito Del Norte BART Station: Westbound 7:11 am and 8:11 am trips depart 12 minutes later at 7:23 am and 8:23 am.
   
Route 44
Marinwood-Lucas Valley-San Rafael Transit Center-San Francisco Commute Service: Southbound 5:36 am trip departs earlier at 5:29 am. Other southbound schedule revisions Northbound schedules revised to improve consistency with Routes 26/27.
   
Route 51
San Marin-Novato -Sutter Novato Medical Center- Vintage Oaks Shopping Center-Indian Valley College- Ignacio Marin Local Service: Schedules revised to improve connections with Route 70.
   
Route 54
San Marin-Novato-San Francisco Commute Service: Southbound 7:47 am Novato (Redwood & Rush Creek) trip added and schedules revised to better accommodate passenger loads.
   
Route 71
Novato-San Rafael-Marin City-San Francisco Basic Service: Northbound 10:27 am and 11:27 am trips added. Also, schedules adjusted up to 5 minutes to improve connections and running times.
   
Route 74 Petaluma-San Francisco Commute Service: Northbound 3:39 pm San Francisco Financial District trip added.
