New Commute Route 580 Linking East Bay Communities with San Rafael Coming in December - Enjoy the Ride!

Starting Monday, December 14, 2015, a new Route 580 will provide service from the East Bay communities of Emeryville, Berkeley, and Albany to San Rafael during commute hours. The route will operate every 30 minutes, with five westbound trips in the morning and five eastbound trips in the afternoon.

In the East Bay, Route 580 will operate along Hollis Street, Ashby Avenue, San Pablo Avenue, and Buchanan Street through Emeryville, Berkeley, and Albany. In Marin County, routing will be similar to Route 40, but it will be extended to serve a portion of Andersen Drive previously served by Route 42.

The route will begin as a nine-month demonstration project and will be made permanent if it meets established performance targets.

Note: Bikes will be permitted in the wheelchair securement area of GGT buses with rear doors when the exterior bike rack is full. NO bikes will be permitted inside the passenger area of Route 580 buses with luggage bay bike racks.
