Trips on Routes 4, 24, and 54

Background

Recently Golden Gate Transit has canceled an unprecedented percentage of trips, and in the months of December and February we did not meet the Board-adopted standard of canceling less than one percent of all trips overall. While our staffing levels are sufficient for the amount of service we schedule, we have been forced to cancel trips due to the unavailability of Bus Operators. We apologize for this inconsistent service. Our action plan to address the service inconsistencies include:

  • We will conduct continuous recruitments for new full-time Bus Operators.
  • Beginning March 21, 2016, we will indefinitely cancel several of our stand-alone trips during the a.m. and p.m. commute periods. Because these single trips are not attached to any other trips, they can be cancelled more readily. As many of our customers have suggested, it would be better to cancel these trips indefinitely rather than having to cancel trips at the last minute. We also will adjust trip times around these cancellations to even out the gaps between trips.

We sincerely apologize for the deficient service we are delivering. We certainly know that our current operations are not meeting the quality of service our customers have come to expect and we are working hard to imporve our operations.
