You Will Soon Hear a Friendly Voice...
Golden Gate Transit Introducing Audible and Visual Announcements Inside and Outside Buses

In the coming weeks, Golden Gate Transit will begin using a new announcement system that makes audible messages inside and outside the bus, as well as visual messages inside the bus. These messages are required by law and are necessary for customers with disabilities to travel independently.

At the bus stop, you will hear direction of travel, route, and final destination when the bus doors open.

Inside the bus, you will hear the next approaching bus stop and will see the stop name and ID number on the "stop requested" sign. Bus stop names may be repeated depending on distance between stops.

You may also hear messages like "exit through the front door only" or "don't forget to signal when you want to exit" inside the bus and "we're sorry, this bus is full" outside the bus.

We appreciate your patience during the testing phase and would like your feedback on the new system. To comment, please use our online Bus comment form or call 511 (say "Golden Gate Transit," then "operator" to bypass recorded messages)/TDD 711. The Golden Gate Customer Service Center is open weekdays, except holidays, from 7am to 6pm.
