Route 63 serving Stinson Beach No Longer Operates

Local bus Route 63, which operated on weekends to Stinson Beach, Pan Toll Ranger Station, Bootjack, Tam Junction, Manzanita Park & Ride and Marin City, will no longer operate per a decision to discontinue the service made by the Marin County Transit District (MCTD). MCTD is solely responsible for setting fares and service levels for local bus services within  the County and Golden Gate Transit acts primarily as the service contractor, operating the level of service as requested by MCTD.

On January 5, 2006, Golden Gate Transit received notification from MCTD to discontinue Route 63 service, normally expected to resume for the spring season on March 12. MCTD cited the Rural Service Plan component of its Short Range Transit Plan (currently underway) as having determined that West Marin service should be provided by the West Marin Stagecoach instead of Route 63. MCTD is continuing to evaluate service options in West Marin as part of the SRTP planning process.

Please contact MCTD at 415/499-6099 (TDD 415/499-6172) or www.marintransit.org for more information.
