Special activities planned for Tuesday, August 30th


Golden Gate Ferry (GGF) celebrated its 35th anniversary on Monday, August 15, 2005. On that date in 1970, GGF began operating service between Sausalito and San Francisco. Service was expanded from Larkspur to San Francisco in 1976. Today, GGF operates 41 weekday crossings from Larkspur and 18 weekday crossings from Sausalito, carrying over 1.7 million customers annually. On Tuesday, August 30, GGF will commemorate the 35th Anniversary with a day-long celebration for ferry customers. Activities include the following:

 Larkspur Ferry Terminal from 6:45 am to 8:30 am:

  • The Melting Pot, Larkspur, CA will serve chocolate dipped fruit and cheese at the Terminal.
  • 24 Hour Fitness will be in the Terminal giving out free passes between 8 am and 8:30 am.
  • S&P Concession (S&P), the onboard concessions operator, will provide complimentary coffee donated by Lappert’s Ice Cream, Sausalito.
  • S&P will make available complimentary newspapers.

San Francisco Ferry Terminal from 4 pm to 6 pm:

  • DJ  Rene Alvarado will provide musical entertainment at the Terminal.
  • S&P will serve complimentary ice cream donated by Lappert’s Ice Cream, Sausalito.
  • 24 Hour Fitness will be giving out free passes and other promotional items.
  • The Melting Pot, Larkspur, CA will serve chocolate dipped fruit and cheese.

Special Commemorative Wine Label

S&P partnered with Windsor Vineyard, Windsor, CA, to create a special Commemorative GGF 35th Anniversary wine label. S&P will be selling this private reserve wine by the glass or bottle aboard the ferry. The wine will be available for a limited time for $8-9 per glass or $20-30 per bottle.

Special 35th Anniversary Raffle

Throughout the day, entry forms and business cards will be collected at the Ferry Terminals for a raffle drawing and the winners will be contacted the following day by phone. Prizes include:

  • Two sets of 35 ferry tickets for use on Golden Gate Ferry
  • 10 Golden Gate Bridge 2005 collectible holiday ornaments
  • Gift certificate from Noonan’s Bar & Grill, Larkspur
  • Dinner for two at the Spinnaker, Sausalito
  • One-year membership World Trade Club, San Francisco
  • Gift certificate for dinner for two from Gaylord's, Sausalito
  • Gift Certificate from Marin Brewing Co., Larkspur Landing
  • A print from Art That Makes You laugh, Sausalito
  • Gift Certificate from Paul & Shark, Sausalito
  • Two gift certificates for 2 pack of wine from  Windsor Vineyards, Windsor
  • Gift Certificate from Hog Island Oysters
  • Donated by the San Francisco Giants: one autographed Willie Mays baseball and one of each of the following bobble heads: Jason Schmidt, Charlie Brown, Gaylord Perry, & Juan Marichal.
