GOLDEN GATE TRANSIT SETS PUBLIC HEARING
TO ESTABLISH TWO NEW EAST BAY FARES
The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (District) will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, January 12, 2006, at 9:30 a.m., in the Board Room, Administration Building, Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza, San Francisco, CA, to receive public comment on a proposal to establish a new regional bus fare for two specific fares: travel between the East Bay and San Francisco and between the East Bay and Sonoma County. For travel between the East Bay and Marin County, the fare is not proposed to change and remains at $3.25. Following are the proposed modified fares:
For Travel Between These Areas |
Fares Effective December 11, 2005 |
Proposed Fares Effective January 15, 2006 |
Fares Prior to December 11, 2005 |

$3.25 |
$6.00, an increase of $2.75 |
$6.00 to $6.90 |
East Bay/ San Francisco |
$3.25 |
$6.00, an increase of $2.75 |
$6.35 |
| East Bay/ Marin | $3.25 |

$3.25 to $3.95 |
It is proposed that this new regional bus fare be implemented on January 15, 2006.
While developing the new fare structure that took effect on December 11, 2005, the two fares for travel between the East Bay and San Francisco and between the East Bay and Sonoma County should have been set differently due to the longer travel distances involved than the fare for travel between the East Bay and Marin County.
A staff report for the Public Hearing will be available after January 6, 2006, and may be obtained by calling 415-921-5858 (TDD use California Relay Service, 800-735-2929) and asking for the Office of the District Secretary or online at http://goldengate.org/board/2005_meetings/mtgs-public-h.php
Public comments will be received at the Public Hearing, may be presented in writing to the Secretary of the District, PO Box 9000, Presidio Station, San Francisco, CA 94129 or may be e-mailed to publichearing@goldengate.org. Comments should be received no later than 4:30 p.m., January 12, 2006.
