San Francisco Bay Area Special License Plate Available
Nature Within Reach
On July 22, 2008, Assemblyman Mark Leno, on behalf of the Coastal Conservancy, unveiled a new San Francisco Bay Area special license plate that will directly fund restoration, conservation, and public access projects throughout the nine-county Bay Area. The new Bay Area special license plate is adorned with a beautiful image of the Golden Gate Bridge and the tagline “Nature Within Reach.”
It is anticipated that the new license plate will be issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles in the second half of 2009 as the new plate needs 7,500 paid pledges to become a reality. The plates costs $50 for initial registration ($90 for personalized plates), with a $40 annual renewal fee ($70 for personalized plates). The goal is eventually to raise $1 million per year via the license plate and have more than 25,000 of the plates in circulation.
