Golden Gate Ferry Honors Martin Luther King, Jr. with
“FREEDOM FERRIES” Monday, January 16, 2006

Ride Golden Gate Ferry “Freedom Ferries” to San Francisco in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Day on Monday, January 16, 2006. The “Freedom Ferries” depart from the Golden Gate Larkspur and Sausalito terminals and deliver customers to San Francisco Ferry Terminal where they can join the annual MLK Day March and Celebration, which takes place from 11:45 am to 3:30 pm.

Golden Gate Ferry riders can join the Freedom Bus Processional, in memory of Rosa Parks, beginning at the San Francisco Ferry Terminal at approximately 11:50 am and meeting up with other mass transit riders and Freedom Bus riders along the route to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium at Grove St. and Larkin St. for the MLK Day Celebration. Ferry riders will also have the option of joining participants who are walking to the Auditorium as well.

“Freedom Ferries” depart as follows:

Depart Larkspur at 11:00 am, arrive San Francisco Ferry Terminal at 11:50 am.

Depart Sausalito at 11:20 am, arrive at San Francisco Ferry Terminal at 11:50 am.

Complimentary round trip ferry tickets for the Freedom Ferries are only available through MLK Day March and Celebration organizers. The general public is invited to ride a “Freedom Ferry” at regular fares.

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 16, 2006, Golden Gate Ferries operate holiday service and Golden Gate Transit buses operate regular service.
