2007 MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL ALL-STAR WEEK
PUBLIC TRANSIT SCHEDULES &

STREET CLOSURE PLANS ANNOUNCED

 

Major League Baseball and the San Francisco Giants in conjunction with the San Francisco Police Department, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and local, state and federal public safety and transit agencies today announced street closure and public transit information for MLB All-Star Week – July 6-10.

The major events of All-Star Week include the DHL All-Star FanFest at Moscone West Convention Center on July 6 (9-6 p.m.), July 7-9 (9-8 p.m.) and July 10 (9-5 p.m.); Taco Bell All-Star Sunday, July 8 at AT&T Park (XM All-Star Futures Game at 1:00 p.m. followed by the Taco Bell All-Star Legends/Celebrity Softball Game at approx. 5:00 p.m.); Gatorade All-Star Workout Day featuring the Home Run Derby on Monday, July 9 at AT&T Park (5:00 p.m.); the All-Star Game Red Carpet Show presented by Chevrolet, along The Embarcadero on Tuesday, July 10 at noon, followed by the 78th MLB All-Star Game at AT&T Park at 5:00 p.m.

 

STREET CLOSURES


Street closures will take place in the vicinities of AT&T Park, Moscone West Convention Center and Piers 30/32 -- the primary sites of MLB All-Star Week events. Local access for residents and businesses within the closures will be allowed and monitored by San Francisco Police Department and the San Francisco Department of Parking & Traffic. The following street closures will be in effect:

Thursday, July 5, 12:01 a.m. through Tuesday, July 10, 11:59 a.m. (Moscone West Convention Center) Please be advised that traffic around Moscone Center West will be significantly affected during this time. Those planning to attend events at this location are urged to take public transportation:

  • North lane of traffic only on Howard Street from 4th Street to the west side of the Moscone West building
  • Most westerly lane of 4th Street between Minna and Howard Streets

Friday, July 6, 6:00 a.m. through Wednesday, July 11, 5:00 p.m.:

  • Terry Francois Boulevard between Mission Rock Street and Third Street (Local access for Pier 50 business will be allowed.)

Saturday, July 7, 8:00 a.m. through Tuesday, July 10, 11:59 a.m. (AT&T Park):

  • 3rd Street between Berry and King Streets
  • Northbound 3rd Street between Berry and Channel Streets
  • King Street (eastbound only) between 2nd and 3rd Streets (Muni exempted)

Sunday, July 8, 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.; Monday July 9, 11:00 a.m.-11:59 p.m. (AT&T Park):

  • Berry Street between 3rd and 4th Streets (local access allowed)
  • King Street between 3rd and 4th Streets
  • The Embarcadero between 2nd and Townsend Streets (Muni exempted, authorized transportation vehicles allowed)
  • Northbound 3rd Street between King and Townsend Streets
  • 2nd Street (southbound only) between Brannan and King Streets (authorized transportation vehicles allowed)

Tuesday, July 10, 6:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (Pier 30/32 & AT&T Park):

  • Northbound Embarcadero between 2nd and Townsend Streets

Tuesday, July 10, 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Pier 30/32 & AT&T Park):

  • Northbound Embarcadero between Bryant and Townsend Streets

I-280 Freeway Diversion: Traffic will be diverted off I-280 Northbound at 6th Street to prevent traffic from continuing on to King Street. The closures will be in effect Sunday, July 8, Monday, July 9 and Tuesday, July 10 from approximately 10:00 a.m. until midnight each day.

NOTE: It is strongly recommended that people who normally enter or exit the freeways around AT&T Park during commute hours should consider taking alternate routes during All-Star Week. There are numerous changeable message signs currently in place reminding drivers of this.

 

PUBLIC TRANSIT SERVICE

  • It is important to remember that there will be permanent system-wide service changes going into effect for Muni on Saturday, June 30.
  • Street supervisors will monitor impact of 4th Street closure to the 30, 34, and 9 lines on Friday, July 6 through Tuesday, July 10.
  • 11a.m.- 8 p.m., Sunday, July 8: 6 extra shuttles will operate from Castro Station to 4th and King to supplement the existing N-Judah and T-Third service.
  • 2 p.m.- 9 p.m., Monday, July 9: 6 extra shuttles will operate from Castro Station to 4th and King to supplement the existing N-Judah and T-Third service.
  • 11 a.m.- 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 10: 8 extra shuttles will operate from Castro Station to 4th and King to supplement the existing N-Judah and T-Third service.

  • The schedule of BART trains will not be affected by the All-Star Week events. BART will provide longer trains to accommodate additional customers. On July 9 and 10, they will also have additional trains on standby, if necessary.

 

Alameda/Oakland Ferry: www.eastbayferry.com; 510-522-3300

  • The Alameda/Oakland Ferry will run direct service between the east bay and AT&T Park for Major League Baseball All-Star Game festivities on Monday and Tuesday, July 9 and 10. This special service will operate between Alameda Main, Oakland's Jack London Square and AT&T Park's McCovey Cove.
  • On Monday and Tuesday, July 9 and 10 the Alameda/Oakland Ferry:
    • Departs Oakland's Jack London Square at 3:00 p.m.
    • Departs Alameda Main Street at 3:20 p.m.
    • Arrives AT&T Park at approximately 3:50 p.m.
  • Monday, July 9, the return Oakland/Alameda Ferry departs McCovey Cove 20 minutes after conclusion of the Home Run Derby but in no case later than 11:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 10, the return Oakland/Alameda Ferry departs McCovey Cove 20 minutes after the last out but in no case later than 11:30 p.m.
  • Tickets are purchased onboard the Oakland/Alameda Ferry at time of departure. No advanced ticket purchase is available for this service.
  • Due to security concerns, passengers may not bring the following items onboard: weapons or security-sensitive objects, open containers (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), alcoholic beverages, hard-sided coolers, and briefcases, diaper bags, purses or backpacks, or bags that are larger than 16'x16"x8".

  • Golden Gate Larkspur Ferry will provide direct ferry service from Larkspur to AT&T Park to the following All-Star events:
    • Sunday, July 8, 11:30 a.m. for the XM All-Star Futures Game & Taco Bell Legends/Celebrity Softball Game
    • Monday, July 9, 3:45 p.m. for Gatorade All-Star Workout Day/Home Run Derby
    • Tuesday, July 10, 3:45 p.m. for the 78th MLB All-Star Game
  • For return trips, remember that the Ferry departs from the McCovey Cove Terminal promptly 30 minutes after the final out.
  • Fares: $7.00 each way (no discounts apply)
  • Children 5 and under FREE (Limit 2 per fare-paying adult; each child must have no fare child ticket)
  • Tickets on sale at Larkspur and San Francisco Ferry Terminals and online at www.tickets.com.

Ferry Security Advisory:
Passengers may NOT bring the following items on board: weapons or security-sensitive objects, open containers (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), alcoholic beverages, hard-sided coolers, and briefcases/diaper bags/purses/ backpacks/bags larger than 16"x16"x8". Passengers may NOT leave items unattended on the ferry.

 

Vallejo Baylink Ferry: www.baylinkferry.com

  • July 10 Return Trip Service from McCovey Cove at 8:25pm.
  • In order to use this service, you must have a special All-Star Game Vallejo Baylink ferry pass in addition to your fare. While there is no extra charge for this pass, each ticket holder must have one. Only 300 will be issued in order to ensure the maximum occupancy limit is observed on the vessel. You may obtain the All-Star Game ferry pass at the Vallejo Terminal starting July 1, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

 

Taxi Service:

  • The authorized taxi drop off zone is on the west side of 2nd Street between Brannan and Townsend. It will be posted Taxi/Limo Drop Off. Persons with disabilities will be allowed to be dropped off at 2nd and King Streets.

  • The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition will offer valet bike parking for all events at AT&T Park along the Portwalk.
