on Tuesday, April 18, 2006

Honoring the 100th Anniversary of the 1906 Great Quake

Arrive refreshed and ready to participate in the San Francisco Rising Parade on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, by taking Golden Gate Ferry and transferring, for free, to MUNI surface routes 7 or 21 and MUNI Metro lines N, J, L, M, and K to City Hall where the parade begins at 10 am and proceeds east to Grove Street to Market Street, down Market Street to Justin Herman Plaza arriving at about noon.

To help get the festivities started that day, for the 8:20 am and 9:15 am Larkspur Ferry departures, Rubicon Bakery will be serving free cake and The Melting Pot will be serving free chocolate-dipped strawberries.

The San Francisco Rising Parade is being presented by San Francisco Fire Fighters Local 798 and the San Francisco Fire Department Historical Society. Contingents of fire fighters, police officers, emergency responders, historical fire apparatus, marching bands and representatives of every neighborhood in San Francisco will be participating in the parade. At the conclusion of the parade, around noon, there will be a program featuring music and remarks by some of the parade participants.
