SAN FRANCISCO SUPERVISOR SANDOVAL APPOINTED TO GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE, HIGHWAY AND
TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
On Friday, November 19, 2004, San Francisco Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval will take the Oath of
Office joining the Board of Directors (Board) of the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District. Supervisor
Sandoval was appointed to this position by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on October 5, 2004 and replaces San
Francisco Supervisor Tony Hall who resigned from the District Board in August 2004. The Oath will be taken at the Board
’s regularly scheduled meeting at 10 am in the Board Room, Administration Building, Toll
Plaza, Golden Gate Bridge.
Sandoval was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisor in 2000 and re-elected in November
of 2004. He currently serves as Chair of the Budget Committee and as a member of the San Francisco County
Transportation Authority. He is also an alternate on the California State Association of Counties board.
Previously, Supervisor Sandoval was a Deputy Public Defender in the San Francisco Public
Defender's Office for four years. He also completed a three year term on San Francisco's Public Transportation
Commission. Supervisor Sandoval served as a special assistant for finance to Mayor Art Agnos. He was formerly an
attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, and worked in Oakland's Office of Economic Development as an
economic development specialist.
Supervisor Sandoval earned his undergraduate degree from U.C. Berkeley in 1987. In 1989, he
received his Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from U.C. Berkeley, with a
specialization in real estate and housing development. He received his law degree from Columbia University in 1995. He
currently resides in San Francisco with his wife Amy Harrington. They have one daughter, Natalie Irene Sandoval.
