Golden Gate Larkspur Ferry
Update on Possible Solutions for
Overcrowding on 7:50 am Departure
Since the customer workshop held in early September, the Golden Gate Ferry
has been evaluating a number of possible solutions available to solve the
overcrowding of the 7:50AM Larkspur departure. On November 4, our Board of
Directors directed staff to continue our efforts with the United States
Coast Guard (USCG) to increase the capacity of the Del Norte and thereby
provide some additional seating.
While we await the USCG decision, beginning Monday, November 22, 2004, we
will provide a bus that will depart every weekday morning from the Larkspur
Ferry Terminal at 7:50AM and go directly to the San Francisco financial
district serving Golden Gate Transit bus stops along Battery and First
Streets. This service will continue through the end of the year and may be
extended if necessary.
Fare for the "back-up" bus will be handled on the bus with the exception of
Translink customers. Translink customers will need to "tag" the Card
Interface Device ("CID") next to the Ticket Booth at Larkspur. When
boarding the bus, customers should show the Bus Operator their Translink
card, and let the Bus Operator know that they tagged on at the Ticket booth.
We will keep you informed regarding our efforts to increase the capacity of
the Del Norte. If we do not receive approval for this increase, we will
once again consider other options that add service, but will require an
increase in fares.
