GGB WEST SIDEWALK REOPENS TO BIKES MAY 23, 2012

BIKE REROUTE THRU SOUTH EAST PLAZA ENDS MAY 23
(and maybe sooner)

The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy has been undertaking the construction on the southeast end of the Golden Gate Bridge over recent months. This construction is to improve the visitor experience for everyone that visits the Bridge and uses the trails in the area. First and foremost, your patience and cooperation during the recent construction work is much appreciated, and the end results will be enjoyed by all of us. The end is in sight as the west sidewalk will reopen on May 23!

The Conservancy is now approaching the final weeks of construction in this area and will wrap up by the end of the day on May 22. This will mean that the two bicycle RE-ROUTES between the south entrance to the east sidewalk and the visitor plaza area will end by May 22. The current re-route choices are:

  1. Ride on the sidewalk between the Round House and toll plaza south of the east sidewalk
  2. Walk their bike down the ramp that will also be used by pedestrians

West Sidewalk reopens to bikes on Wednesday, May 23 and will remain open for the foreseeable future.
