SUNDAY, JULY 31, 2011, SAN FRANCISCO MARATHON™CROSSES THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGEPLAN FOR DELAYS IN THE AREA THROUGH 10 AMNO DROP-OFFS ALLOWED AT THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGEPARKING LOTS CLOSED UNTIL 10 AM
The San Francisco Marathon returns to the Golden Gate Bridge (Bridge) roadway on Sunday, July 31, 2011. The marathon runners will begin crossing the Bridge by 6 am, with the last runner coming off the Bridge by 9 am.

Golden Gate Bridge Roadway Lanes 1 am to 6 am: Roadway lane configuration on the Golden Gate Bridge and Doyle Drive are transitioned to accommodate the San Francisco Marathon runners. |
Northbound Doyle Drive and 19th Avenue (going north from San Francisco) Northbound Doyle Dr. and Park Presidio Boulevard (Northbound from 19th Avenue) will be reduced to ONE (1) northbound lane near the Bridge. |
Closures - Golden Gate Bridge Exits and Parking Areas – NO DROP OFFS ALLOWED

Golden Gate Bridge Pedestrian and Bicycle Sidewalk Access The EAST sidewalk will open at 5 am. The public is advised not to access the sidewalk until after 10 am as the parking lots and exits on both sides of the Bridge will be closed until 10 am. The WEST sidewalk remains closed for seismic construction through September 2011. |

Overview of Marathon Course The 2011 San Francisco Marathon's Start Line is located at the Ferry Building along San Francisco's Embarcadero. After passing the Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf, Marina Green and Crissy Field, runners step onto the Golden Gate Bridge at the 5-1/4 mile point. They proceed over the approximately 1.7 mile span into Marin County. At the north end, runners immediately turn around and re-cross the Bridge back into San Francisco. Runners then head to the Pacific Ocean coastline at Baker Beach, through Golden Gate Park, the Haight-Ashbury District, and past AT&T Park before finishing in front of Cupid’s Arrow. |
