Free Shuttle for Bicyclists & Pedestrians

Bridge Roadway Remains OPEN to Traffic at ALL Times

On Sunday, April 22, 2018, the east and west sidewalks of the Golden Gate Bridge will be temporarily CLOSED to bicycles and pedestrians to accommodate up to 3,500 runners participating in the Presidio 10, a fun, family-oriented race in the Presidio of San Francisco. The Bridge roadway will REMAIN OPEN to traffic at all times.

During this temporary sidewalk closure, a free shuttle will be available to transport pedestrians and bicyclists between the southeast Bridge parking lot and the Hwy 101/Alexander Ave off-ramp bus stop.

A summary of impacts to the Golden Gate Bridge and surrounding areas follows. Note: times are approximate.

Sidewalk Closures

The EAST and WEST sidewalks will be temporary CLOSED as follows (times are approximate):

  • WEST SIDEWALK
    • 5:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.: OPEN to bicyclists (NO pedestrians allowed)
    • 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.: CLOSED
    • Approx. 10:30 a.m.: OPEN to bicyclists (NO pedestrians allowed)
  • EAST SIDEWALK
    • 5:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.: CLOSED
    • Approx. 10:00 a.m.: OPEN to pedestrians

FREE Pedestrian / Bicycle Shuttle

During the temporary sidewalk closure, bicyclist and pedestrians requiring access across the Bridge may ride a FREE shuttle service. Shuttle stops are located on both sides of the Bridge:

  • SOUTH END: Shuttle stop is in the southeast Welcome Center parking lot.
  • NORTH END: Shuttle stop is at the northbound Hwy 101 Alexander Avenue off-ramp bus stop.
