Golden Gate Bridge Sidewalks Temporarily Closed for
Golden Gate Half Marathon on Sunday, November 5, 2017 - Free Shuttle Available for Cyclists & Pedestrians

Expect heavy traffic and parking demand with detours and road closures in the nearby Presidio until 10:30AM

On Sunday, November 5, 2017, the Golden Gate Bridge east and west sidewalk will be temporary CLOSED to accommodate up to 5,000 runners participating in the Golden Gate Half Marathon. During the temporary closure of the sidewalks, a free shuttle will be available to bicyclists and pedestrians requiring access across the Bridge. See below for effective times.

The Golden Gate Bridge roadway will remain open at all times.

Sidewalk Closures

Both the EAST and WEST Golden Gate Bridge sidewalks will be closed as follows (times are approximate):

EAST Sidewalk

  • CLOSED: 5:00AM to 9:30AM

WEST Sidewalk

  • OPEN: 5:00AM to 6:30AM
  • CLOSED: 6:30AM to 9:30AM
  • REOPEN: 9:30AM

FREE Pedestrian/Bicycle Shuttle

Beginning at 6:00AM, during the temporary closure of the sidewalks, bicyclists and pedestrians requiring access across the Bridge may ride a FREE shuttle. Shuttle stops are located on both sides of the Bridge:

  • SOUTH END: Shuttle stop is in the southeast parking lot.
  • NORTH END: Shuttle stop is at the northbound Hwy 101 Alexander Avenue off-ramp bus stop.
