Easter Weekend - Don't Park at the Golden Gate Bridge!

This Easter weekend—Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5—leave the car behind and take transit, walk, or your bike to the Golden Gate Bridge!

On holidays, traffic backups can be unbelievably long, as visitors attempt to park at the Golden Gate Bridge. Parking lots at Vista Point on the Marin side and the Visitor Pavilion on the San Francisco side usually fill to capacity early.

The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (District) is advising visitors to avoid these parking lots and is using changeable message signs around San Francisco to help spread the word. The District is also reaching out to the tourist community to alert them to the frustrations drivers face when trying to use this very limited parking on both ends of the Bridge. The message signs will read: “GG BRDG PARKING LOT FULL / USE TRANSIT CALL 511”.

These changeable message signs will be placed at:

  • Marina Blvd east of Baker St
  • Laguna St south of North Point St
  • Richardson Ave north of Lyon St
  • Park Presidio Blvd north of Clement St
  • Lincoln Blvd south of Bowley St
  • Northbound I-280 north of Highway 1

The Vista Point parking lot may be closed completely for hours at a time if traffic backups are substantial.
