The public should plan for possible traffic delays on and near

the Golden Gate Bridge until approximately 11:30 am


On Sunday, April 22, 2007, the United Way/KGO-TV/Chevron sponsored Bridging Communities event will take place on the West Sidewalk of the Golden Gate Bridge from approximately 9 am to about 11:30 am. Participation in this event requires pre-registration at www.uwba.org/bridging or at Crissy Field from 7 am to 8 am on April 22.

•  Golden Gate Bridge remains open to traffic.
•  Golden Gate Bridge southeast parking lot remains open to visitors — there is no parking available for this event at this location and event drop-offs will not be permitted.
•  Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point parking lot (northeast side) remains open.
•  Golden Gate Transit bus service operates normal weekend schedules and routing.

•  After 8 am, on Sunday, April 22, 2007, bicyclists will NOT BE ALLOWED on the West Sidewalk and must share the East Sidewalk with pedestrians until about 11 am.
•  At sunset on Saturday, April 21, 2007, Golden Gate Bridge northwest parking lot (off Conzelman Rd and referred to locally as the Dillingham Lot) will be closed to motorists.

IMPACTS on South Side of Bridge in the Presidio and GGNRA:
•  There will be a very limited amount of public parking available in the Presidio.
•  Long Ave remains open for access to Fort Point, Warming Hut, West Bluffs Picnic Area.
•  Mason St will be closed from San Francisco Gymnastics to the West Bluffs Picnic Area from 7 am to 3 pm.
•  Mason St will be closed from Sports Basement to Crissy Field Ave from 7 am to 11 am.
•  McDowell will be closed from Lincoln Blvd to Crissy Field Ave from 7 am to 3 pm.
•  Cowles St will be closed from 7 am to 3 pm.
•  Crissy Field Ave will be closed from 7 am to 3 pm.
•  SF Muni and PresidiGo operate normal schedules and routes.


Participation in this event requires pre-registration,

either online at www.uwba.org/bridging or on the morning of

April 22, at Crissy Field between 7 and 8 am

Overview of Bridging Community Event Schedule

7 to 8 am
All pre-registered Bridge West Sidewalk participants are checked in at designated area in Crissy Field.
9 to 10 am
Participants walk onto the West Sidewalk of the Bridge, from both the north and south sides.
10 to 10:10 am
Participants will connect by joining hands in a “Hands Across the Bridge Photo Opportunity” that will be broadcast live on ABC-7/KGO-TV.
10:10 to 11:45 am
Participants will exit the West Sidewalk and walk back to Crissy Field.
Noon to 2:30 pm
Free Community Festival begins at Crissy Field. The festival is open to the public and will have live music on the main stage.
