SAN FRANCISCO RESIDENT LYNNE NEWHOUSE SEGAL APPOINTED TO

GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE, HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

On Friday, October 14, 2005, San Francisco resident Lynne Newhouse Segal will take the Oath of Office, joining the Board of Directors of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (District Board), San Francisco, CA. Segal was appointed by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on September 20, 2005, as one of four San Francisco public appointees to the District Board and replaces First Vice President Maryanne P. Harrison who passed away in June 2005.   

Segal is a retired attorney, having served as district liaison for U.S. Congressman Tom Lantos in the early 1980s, and general counsel leading the merger of international companies Metron Technology/Transpacific Technology from 1992 to 1996. She has served as the San Francisco coordinator for the U.S. Conference of Mayors in 1996 and 1997, and Commissioner for the San Francisco Recreation and Parks from 1998 to 2002.  She was a candidate for San Francisco Supervisor in 2002.

Segal has been very active in a number of political, civic, and charitable organizations over the years including: Democratic Women’s Forum, National Women’s Political Caucus, International Museum of Women, Jewish Vocational Serivces, National Breast Cancer Coalition, Pacific Heights Residents Association, San Francisco Parks Trust, Neighborhood Parks Council, and San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR).  Segal is former Commissioner of Human Rights and currently serves on the Jewish Community Relations Council. 

Segal earned her B.A. from American University and her J.D. from Hastings College of Law.
