Energy Efficiencies

• Replaced all fluorescent light fixtures saving 40% in energy consumption
• Replaced heating, ventilation and air condition (HVAC) units with more energy efficient units
• Replaced windows with tint glazing, maintaining comfortable working temperatures and reducing energy consumption
• Installed timers on gas heaters
• Replaced all Bridge toll plaza signal lights, emergency stop lights and crossing ligths with light-emitting diodes (LEDs)
• Currently testing the use of recycled vegetable oil as an alternative fuel source for the Bridge's Cushman maintenance vehicles. Early testing is showing great promise for this alternative fuel source
• Using modern virtualization and de-duplication technology to reduce Data Center energy used by servers and data backup by 80%

Planned Energy Efficiencies

• Extend upgrading of lighting fixtures with more efficient fixtures at satellite bus facilities and complete final phase at San Rafael facility
• Install occupancy or daylight sensors in conference rooms and restrooms
