Board Member Biographies
The Board of Directors of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and
Transportation District is comprised of 19 members, representing 6 counties, as follows:
- City and County of San Francisco (9 Directors): 1 Director is appointed
by the Mayor, 4 Directors are elected members of the Board of Supervisors, and 4 Directors are non-elected public
members appointed by the Board of Supervisors,
- County of Marin (4 Directors): 2 Directors are elected members of the
Board of Supervisors, 1 Director is an elected member of the Council of Mayors and Councilmembers and is appointed by
the Board of Supervisors, and 1 Director is a non-elected, public member appointed by the Board of Supervisors;
- County of Sonoma (3 Directors): 1 Director is an elected member of the
Board of Supervisors, 1 Director is an elected member of the Council of Mayors and Councilmembers and is appointed by
the Board of Supervisors and 1 Director is a non-elected, public member appointed by the Board of Supervisors;
- County of Napa (1 Director): the Director is a non-elected, public
member appointed by the Board of Supervisors;
- County of Mendocino (1 Director): the Director is a non-elected, public
member appointed by the Board of Supervisors; and,
- County of Del Norte (1 Director): the Director is a non-elected, public
member appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
Directors are paid $50 per meeting day, up to a maximum of $5,000 in a year. The one
exception is the President of the Board who, as an ex-officio member of all committees, may be paid a maximum of $7,500
in one year. Each member of the Board of Directors is appointed to serve a two-year term. Terms are renewed by their respective Board of Supervisors, with the exception of one member who is appointed by the Mayor of the City and County of San Francisco.
