NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (District) will hold a Public Hearing on a proposal to Increase Golden Gate Ferry “Stored-Value” Clipper® Fares, on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at 9:30 a.m., Board Room, Administration Building, Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza, San Francisco, CA.

The District is facing a projected $87 million five-year projected deficit as a result of several recent developments, including the current recession, which has resulted in reduced revenues, the loss of state transit funding, and a commitment of $75 million toward the Doyle Drive Reconstruction Project. The Board approved the FY 09/10 Financial Plan for Achieving Long-Term Financial Stability (Plan), which contains 33 different initiatives to reduce costs or generate new revenues on October 30, 2009. This proposal contributes to Initiative No. 25, Renew Transit Fare Increase Plan: Annual 5% Fare Increases for Bus and Ferry Transit Fares, of the Plan.

It is proposed that Golden Gate Ferry stored-value Clipper® fares be increased by five percent each year over a five year period, rounded to the nearest $0.25 beginning July 1, 2012. Fares for seniors, youth and persons with disabilities, single-ride “cash” adult fares, and special event fares are not affected by this proposal.
