Update from Caltrans for July 6, 2010

Manzanita Park and Ride Improvement Project Underway

Recently, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) embarked on an improvement project for the Manzanita Park and Ride Lot on Shoreline Highway in Mill Valley. The sidewalk along the southern edge of the parking lot is being replaced with at new sidewalk that will be more easily accessible for persons with disabilities. In addition, the bus pads, drinking fountain, and benches will also be replaced.

On Tuesday, July 6, the existing bus stop will temporarily move from the north side of the lot to the south side for about two weeks. To assist in reducing potential congestion in the bus stop area, the contractor will begin the next phase of the sidewalk demolition on the north side of the lot and work their way south to the existing bus stop area. This will allow a larger area for bus service during construction. Construction crews will maintain clear access for buses and other vehicles during construction.

The northwest lot is currently scheduled to be closed between July 14 and 16 for resurfacing.

The project is scheduled to be completed by early August.
