Open House Meeting to Discuss Next Steps for the Future of Golden Gate Larkspur Ferry

Passenger Input on Parking and Expanding Service Sought

On May 10, 2013, the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District Board of Directors approved a Strategic Vision for Golden Gate Larkspur Ferry. The Vision includes a listing of several conceptual short-term and long-term solutions aimed at alleviating the current lack of sufficient parking and lack of passenger capacity on several weekday peak departures, while also continuing the recent trend in growing ridership.

On Tuesday, June 4, from 4 pm to 6 pm, Golden Gate Ferry staff will host an Open House at the Golden Gate San Francisco Ferry Terminal to talk with ferry customers about the short-term and long-term solutions up for possible consideration and further evaluation. Obtaining direct feedback from our customers is vital to the success of the solutions selected.

In addition to the Open House, on both June 3 and 4, a survey will be available onboard for ferry customers to comment on several of the possible solutions.

The solutions up for discussion at the Open House and via the survey include gauging customer interest in the following:

  1. Added high-speed ferry trip from Larkspur on weekdays at 7:30am;
  2. Free shuttle to the terminal;
  3. Paying for parking at the terminal to help offset the cost of 1 and 2 above.

We encourage our customers to follow this process as it unfolds at this website location dedicated to tracking all activity related to the Strategic Vision: www.goldengate.org/ferryvision.
