US HALF MARATHON Crosses Golden Gate Bridge Sidewalks - Temporary Sidewalk Closures In Effect

Expect heavy traffic and parking demand with detours and road closures in the nearby Presidio until 10:30 a.m.

On Sunday, November 2, 2014, up to 5,000 runners will participate in San Francisco's US Half Marathon event across the Golden Gate Bridge sidewalks. The race starts at 7 from Aquatic Park (Muni Pier Waterfront, End of Van Ness @ Beach) and continues west towards the Marina, through Crissy Field, up to the Golden Gate Bridge, and then back to Aquatic Park.

Golden Gate Bridge Sidewalk Closures

To accommodate the race, both Golden Gate Bridge sidewalks (EAST and WEST) will be closed. The following times are approximate:

EAST Sidewalk

  • CLOSED: 5:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

WEST Sidewalk

  • OPEN: 5:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
  • CLOSED: 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

FREE Pedestrian/Bicycle Shuttle

During the temporary closure of the sidewalks, bicyclist and pedestrians requiring access across the Golden Gate Bridge may ride a FREE shuttle service. Shuttle stops are located on both sides of the Golden Gate Bridge:

  • SOUTH END shuttle stop is in the southeast parking lot
  • NORTH END shuttle stop is at the northbound Alexander Avenue off-ramp bus stop

Nearby Road Closures

Mason Street from Marina Gate to the Warming Hut and all roads intersecting Mason Street, such as Crissy Field Ave.

Lincoln Blvd. from McDowell Ave. to the GGB Toll Plaza Entrance and all roads intersecting Lincoln Blvd., such as Long Ave. and McDowell Ave.

Transit

PresidioGo and MUNI will operate altered schedules during race times.
