Golden Gate Bridge South Approach - New Temporary Northbound Doyle Drive Roadway Alignment In Place Through June 2014

Road work on the south approach to the Golden Gate Bridge is scheduled to begin late Saturday evening, May 10, 2014, and northbound motorists are alerted to a month-and-a-half-long new roadway alignment. This work is part of Caltrans' Doyle Drive replacement project.

On Sunday, May 11 from 1:00 am 6:00 am, the ramp from northbound Highway 1 to Highway 101 will be closed to switch traffic to the new temporary roadway alignment. Single lane closures on northbound Highways 1 and 101 will begin at 9:00 pm on Saturday, May 10.

When the new alignment is in place, motorists on northbound Highway 101 must be in the rightmost lane to access the last San Francisco exit (Merchant Road at the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza). All vehicles in the left lane will travel across the Bridge. See image below showing red construction zone, red "decision point," and yellow "through traffic only across GGB" lanes. The Toll Plaza is in the upper right.

During the temporary alignment, Golden Gate Transit buses will use the rightmost lane to serve the northbound Toll Plaza bus stop (indicated in green in image above).
