Golden Gate Bridge Sidewalks Temporarily Closed for Mermaid 10 Mile Run on Sunday, November 12, 2017 - Free Shuttle Available for Cyclists & Pedestrians

Expect heavy traffic and parking demand with detours and road closures in the nearby Presidio until 10:30AM

On Sunday, November 12, 2017, the Golden Gate Bridge sidewalks will be temporarily CLOSED to accommodate up to 2,000 runners participating in the Mermaid 10 Mile Run. During the temporary closure of the sidewalk, a free shuttle will be available to transport pedestrians and bicyclists between the southeast Bridge parking lot and the Hwy 101/Alexander Ave off-ramp bus stop.

The Golden Gate Bridge roadway will remain OPEN at all times.

Sidewalk Closures

Both the EAST and WEST Golden Gate Bridge sidewalks will be CLOSED as follows (times are approximate):

EAST Sidewalk

  • CLOSED: 5:00AM to 9:30AM

WEST Sidewalk

  • OPEN: 5:00AM to 6:30AM
  • CLOSED: 6:30AM to 9:30AM
  • REOPEN: 9:30AM

FREE Pedestrian/Bicycle Shuttle

Beginning at 6:00AM, during the temporary closure of the sidewalks, bicyclist and pedestrians requiring access across the Bridge may ride a FREE shuttle service. Shuttle stops are located on both sides of the Bridge:

  • SOUTH END: Shuttle stop is in the southeast Welcome Center parking lot.
  • NORTH END: Shuttle stop is at the northbound Hwy 101 Alexander Avenue off-ramp bus stop.
