ORDINANCE NO. 2009-06
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND MASTER ORDINANCE 2009, AS AMENDED,
TO APPROVE CHANGES TO THE FARE COORDINATION AGREEMENT WITH THE SAN FRANCISCO MUNICIPAL TRANSPORTATION AGENCY
TO PROVIDE FOR A RECIPROCAL 50-CENT TRANSLINK® TRANSFER CREDIT
FOR ADULT FARES
November 20, 2009
THIS ORDINANCE is adopted with reference to the following facts and circumstances which are found and declared by the Board of Directors: |
| 1. | The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) notified the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (District) that the SFMTA will be discontinuing their present practice of providing free round-trip San Francisco MUNI tickets to Golden Gate Ferry and Golden Gate Transit adult riders, effective January 1, 2010. |
| 2. | With this new arrangement, there will be a 50-cent transfer credit, when using TransLink®, for Golden Gate Ferry and Golden Gate Transit adult fares, when passengers are transferring to San Francisco MUNI; and, there will be no transfer credit on fares for youth, seniors and persons with disabilities, as a result of their already-discounted 75-cent San Francisco MUNI fare. |
| 3. | SFMTA, after reviewing all its existing Inter-Agency Transfer Agreements, is taking this action in order to create a more equitable and consistent across-the-board policy with all operators who link with San Francisco MUNI. |
| 4. | To reciprocate with the SFMTA, the District will provide a 50-cent transfer credit on adult fares for passengers when using TransLink® and transferring from San Francisco MUNI to Golden Gate Ferry and Golden Gate Transit, and consistent with District policy on providing transfer credits to already-discounted passenger categories in proportion to the adult fare discount of 50%, the District will provide a 25-cent transfer credit on fares for youth, seniors and persons with disabilities. |
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE, HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT, AS FOLLOWS: |
