NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO

RECEIVE PUBLIC COMMENT ON THE

PROPOSED FY 2012-2016 FIVE-YEAR FARE PROGRAM FOR

GOLDEN GATE TRANSIT AND GOLDEN GATE FERRY

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (District) will hold two Public Hearings to receive public comment on the “Proposed FY 2012-2016 Five-Year Fare Program for Golden Gate Transit and Golden Gate Ferry,” as follows:

Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 6:00 p.m.

The proposed fare increases consist of the following:

  1. Implement an Annual Five Percent (5%) Fare Increase. It is proposed that Golden Gate Transit (GGT) and Golden Gate Ferry (GGF) fares increase by five percent each year over a five year period, rounded to the nearest $0.25 on regional inter-county bus services, local rides on regional routes within Marin County, Larkspur Ferry “single ride” fares and complementary ADA paratransit services, beginning July 1, 2011.
  2. Increase Sausalito Ferry “Single Ride” Adult Fares. It is proposed that the Sausalito Ferry “single ride” adult fares be increased by $1.00 from $8.25 to $9.25 for adults and from $4.10 to $4.50 for youth, seniors and the disabled beginning July 1, 2011, and increased five percent each subsequent year, rounded to the nearest $0.25, beginning July 1, 2012.
  3. Increase “Special Event” Ferry Fares. It is proposed that the “special event” ferry fares be increased to be equal to the Larkspur proposed single ride adult ferry fares from $8.00 to $8.75 beginning July 1, 2011.

A staff report on the Five-Year Fare Program was presented to the Finance-Auditing Committee at its meeting of February 24, 2011, and is available on the District’s web site at www.goldengate.org, click on Public Meetings Set for 5-Year Fare Increase Program and click on Staff Report. A staff report summarizing the public comments and staff analysis will be presented to the Finance-Auditing Committee at its meeting of April 21, 2011. The Committee’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of Directors for consideration and action at its meeting of Friday, April 22, 2011.

Public comments will be received at the public hearings or may be presented in writing to the Secretary of the District, as follows: Janet S. Comments may also be sent by e-mail to publichearing@goldengate.org. Written comments should be received no later than Thursday, April 7, 2011, by 4:30 p.m.
