TO RECEIVE PUBLIC COMMENT ON PROPOSALS TO
CHANGE GOLDEN GATE FERRY “FREQUENT RIDER” DISCOUNT FARES
AND WEEKDAY SCHEDULES

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at 9:30 a.m., in the Board Room, Administration Building, Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza, San Francisco, CA, to receive public comment on proposals to change Golden Gate Ferry (GGF) ”Frequent Rider” discount fares and weekday schedules.

It is proposed to reduce the rate for the GGF “Frequent Rider” discount fare to 30% off the adult cash fare, available only when using the Clipper® card, increasing the Larkspur Ferry fare from $5.15 to $5.80 and the Sausalito Ferry fare from $4.40 to $5.80.

Proposed changes to the Sausalito Ferry weekday schedule include: adjustment to the times of five crossings; and, the addition of one new morning crossing, departing San Francisco at 6:30 a.m. Proposed changes to the Larkspur Ferry weekday schedule include: adjustment to the times of 13 crossings; elimination of 3 crossings; elimination of 2 crossings during the fall/winter season; elimination of 3 additional crossings year-round; and, conversion of one trip from a high-speed catamaran crossing (30 minutes) to a Spaulding Class vessel crossing (45 minutes). A detailed description of the proposed changes to the Larkspur and Sausalito Ferry weekday schedules is available for review at http://goldengate.org/financialplan/ggf_fares-schedules.php.

Proposed changes to the Larkspur and Sausalito Ferry weekday schedules are proposed to better accommodate start times in San Francisco, maximize crew efficiency, provide cost savings by reducing fuel consumption and address the District’s $132 million five-year projected deficit.
