NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PROPOSED GOLDEN GATE TRANSIT SERVICE CHANGES

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District will hold a Public Hearing on Friday, November 21, 2008, at 9:30 a.m., in the Board Room, Administration Building, Toll Plaza, Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, CA, to receive public comment on proposed Golden Gate Transit service changes, as follows:

  1. Redeploy unproductive commute service from Routes 8, 60 and 75, and eliminate Route 9, to address overcrowding on other commute routes, such as Routes 4, 54/56, 26/27, 24; and,
  2. Redesign service to improve travel times and service productivity on regional basic service Routes 10 and Route 80.

These Golden Gate Transit service changes are being proposed to reallocate resources to provide better service to more customers. Since the District’s budget does not provide for new resources to expand service, only solutions focusing on “cost-neutral” strategies are being considered.


In addition to the Public Hearing, several Community Workshops will be held in Marin, Sonoma and San Francisco for District staff to discuss the proposed transit service changes with the public.

Public comments will be received at the public hearing or may be presented in writing to the Secretary of the District at the above address. Comments may also be sent by e-mail to publichearing@goldengate.org. Written comments should be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2008.
