NO WAIT TO OPEN GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE
FASTRAK ACCOUNTS


 

The $1 toll discount being offered through October 31, 2004, to drivers who use FasTrakTM to pay their tolls on the Bay Areas seven Caltrans-operated toll bridges has created a backlog for processing accounts through Caltrans FasTrak customer service center.

For clarification, there is no wait time for opening a FasTrak account for users of the Golden Gate Bridge wishing to save $1 and pay the $4 FasTrak toll. The Golden Gate Bridge has very high market saturation of FasTrak users (70% during the morning commute and 52% during the afternoon commute) and as such the program is well utilized and the charge to open accounts is minimal compared to the current rush to open accounts for the Caltrans bridges.

FasTrak is compatible on all Bay Area bridges including the seven Caltrans operated bridges (Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael, San Francisco-Oakland Bay, and San Mateo-Hayward) and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Customers should open their FasTrak account with the toll agency (Caltrans or Golden Gate Bridge) that they use most frequently. A combined regional Fastrak customer service program that will service FasTrak accounts for both agencies (Caltrans and Golden Gate Bridge) is now set to open in spring 2005.
