GOLDEN
GATE FERRY SEEKING 1906 EARTHQUAKE SURVIVORS TO ATTEND 25th ANNUAL
COMMEMORATIVE FERRY RIDE
This year marks the 98th anniversary of the Great Quake that shook
San Francisco in 1906. On Monday, April 19, 2004, in keeping with
the spirit of the emergency assistance offered to the people of
San Francisco by tug boats, fireboats, ferries and military vessels
following the trembler, Golden Gate Ferry will hold its 25th annual
Golden Gate Ferry excursion held exclusively for survivors of the
1906 San Francisco earthquake.
This "By Invitation Only" event is intended for
those who are 98 years of age or older as of April 18, 2004, and
were in the Bay Area at the time of the earthquake. If you know
of anyone that we may have missed this event in past years that
is eligible, please call 415-257-4413, by March 15, to be added
to the special guest list to receive their 06 survivor invitation.
In 2000, 25 quake survivors participated and in 2003, just 15 participated.
The Golden Gate ferry will depart from the San Francisco Ferry Terminal
(behind the San Francisco Ferry Building) at 10 am on Monday, April
19, 2004. North Bay residents can take the ferry from Larkspur (time
yet to be determined).
