Free Shuttle Available for Cyclists & Pedestrians

Bridge Remains OPEN to Traffic at ALL Times

On Sunday, November 4, 2018, the Golden Gate Bridge east and west sidewalk will be temporary CLOSED from 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to accommodate up to 5,000 runners participating in the Golden Gate Half Marathon. During the temporary closure of the sidewalks, a free shuttle will be available to bicyclists and pedestrians requiring access across the Bridge. See below for more information.

The Golden Gate Bridge roadway will remain OPEN at all times.

Sidewalk Closures

Both the EAST and WEST Golden Gate Bridge sidewalks will be closed as follows (times are approximate):

EAST SIDEWALK

  • Up to 5:00 a.m.: CLOSED to pedestrians; regular overnight weekend access for bicyclists.
  • 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: CLOSED to pedestrians & bicyclists. Shuttle available - more info below.
  • 10:30 a.m.: REOPEN to pedestrians; bicyclists use west sidewalk.

WEST SIDEWALK - always CLOSED to pedestrians

  • Up to 5:00 a.m.: CLOSED to bicyclists.
  • 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: CLOSED to bicyclists. Shuttle available - more info below.
  • 10:30 a.m.: REOPEN to bicyclists; pedestrians use east sidewalk.

FREE Pedestrian/Bicycle Shuttle

Beginning at 5:00 a.m., during the temporary closure of the east and west sidewalks, bicyclists and pedestrians requiring access across the Bridge may ride a FREE shuttle. Shuttle stops are located on both sides of the Bridge:

  • SOUTH END: Shuttle stop is in the southeast Welcome Center parking lot.
  • NORTH END: Shuttle stop is at the northbound Hwy 101 Alexander Avenue off-ramp bus stop.
