Sign-up to Test TransLink ® !

You may have noticed some new high-tech looking fare collection equipment recently installed on GGT buses and at Golden Gate Ferry terminals.

The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the regional planning organization for Bay Area transit operators, is getting ready to launch a 6-month pilot program introducing TransLink, a regional transit fare payment system using "smart card" technology, on SELECT Golden Gate Transit Routes and Golden Gate Ferry. TransLink will allow customers to pay fares on all Bay Area transit systems operating multiple forms of transit (trains, buses, ferries) with a single "smart card".

The TransLink pilot program is expected to start in November 2001 and a limited number of GGT and GGF customers using the following routes may participate in the program: 8, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 , 34, 40, 42 OR Golden Gate Larkspur or Sausalito Ferry.

If you use one of these GGT Routes or ride the ferry, call MTC TransLink pilot program recruiters at 888-853-2938 to sign-up to be a TransLink tester. Space is limited and may fill quickly, so call now! The test phase will last 6 months. Visit for more information.

After this 6-month test period, Bay Area Transit operators will decide if the program will be offered to the general public. Watch for future announcements about this innovative program.
