Marin County Fair, July 1 to 5
Many Cultures - One Community
The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District returns to the Marin County Fair, from Thursday, July 1 through Monday, July 5! While visiting the Fair this year, be sure to stop by the Golden Gate booth and experience fun-filled activities. Golden Gate's exhibit is located next to the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium.
- Help create Golden Gate Transit's new "Many Cultures, One Community" bus. Just like our "Green Footprint" and "Flower Power" buses from previous years, this decorated bus will go into revenue service after the Fair as a reminder of Golden Gate's dedication to keeping our community connected
- Take part in the Fair's geocaching adventure. This family-friendly activity will lead geocachers of any age on a 45-minute tour of the fairgrounds to find 3 hidden geocache sites!
- Get personal trip planning assistance to see how public transportation can work for you and your family
Golden Gate Transit Routes 45, 45K, 49, and 75 and Marin Transit Routes 233 and 259 all serve the Marin County Fair. GGT will also be running backup bus service directly to the San Rafael Transit Center (3rd & Hetherton) from the Terra Linda and North San Pedro bus pads at 10:10pm and 11:10pm every night during the Fair. These trips will continue on to the Canal and/or Marin City. Connections to points north (Novato and Sonoma County) can be made at the Transit Center. Since 1970, Golden Gate has been connecting cultures and communities in a number of ways:
- During commute periods, thousands of local residents choose between a Golden Gate bus or ferry to deliver them to San Francisco's employment centers
- Every day, locals ride buses to jobs, entertainment, medical appointments, shopping malls, and schools
- Every year during the 4th of July weekend, Marin County Fairgoers hop onboard Golden Gate Transit buses to take them to the fairgrounds
- San Francisco Giants fans ride the ever-popular Baseball Ferry to every home game at AT&T Park
- Each May, running enthusiasts arrive fresh at the starting line of one of San Francisco's favorite races – Bay to Breakers – by Golden Gate Ferry
- On weekends, hikers and bicyclists hop on a bus heading to rural western Marin County through the Golden Gate National Recreation Area parklands and get off at one of many trailheads
- School groups board a ferry to learn about the marine environment, while other student groups ride GGT's Whale Bus to learn about our local ecosystem
