May 8, 9 am to 2 pm, Girl Scouts Golden Gate Bridging Event on Golden Gate Bridge EAST Sidewalk
EVENT IS SOLD OUT, PLEASE NO EVENT “CRASHING”
Under a special event permit issued by the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District, up to 8,000 Girl Scouts will walk across the Golden Gate Bridge EAST sidewalk between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm for the Golden Gate Bridging 2010 event.
From the Girl Scouts website, “Golden Gate Bridging 2010 is SOLD OUT. GGB 2010 sold out at an incredible rate this year. In 29 years, we have never experienced such high demand or sold out so quickly. We apologize to groups that have not been able to get into the event….Please do not crash this event. Having non-registered participants 'crashing' Golden Gate Bridging violates our permits with the National Park Service, the Presidio, Caltrans, and the Golden Gate Bridge, and puts the future of the event in jeopardy for everyone. It is an act unbefitting Girl Scouts to crash Golden Gate Bridging. We must pay the Presidio, National Park Service, and the Golden Gate Bridge for each person who attends the event. We appreciate your support following this policy. This event is a once in a lifetime experience for the girls and we appreciate your effort in helping us ensure we can continue to offer the event for generations to come. We have introduced new procedures this year to ensure that non-registered participants cannot crash the event.”
