Golden Gate Bridge to Turn Off Decorative Tower Lighting for Earth Hour, March 27, 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm
The Golden Gate Bridge decorative tower lighting will be turned off for one hour, 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, as part of the World Wildlife Fund’s global initiative to support action on climate change. Other landmarks set to turn out non-essential lighting include Mount Rushmore, Las Vegas Strip, and the Empire State Building. Earth Hour is designed to engage people in the climate change discussion. Individuals and businesses are encouraged to participate to demand action on the climate crisis. Last year, nearly one billion people in 4,100 cities in 87 countries on seven continents participated in Earth Hour. On Earth Hour hundreds of millions of people around the world will come together to call for action on climate change by doing something quite simple—turning off their lights for one hour. The movement symbolizes that by working together, each of us can make a positive impact in this fight, protecting our future and that of future generations.
